Emma is an infrastructure and development lawyer and has advised developers, utilities and local authorities on a broad spectrum of development, infrastructure and compulsory purchase matters. Emma’s recent development and compulsory purchase experience includes advising South Tyneside and Sunderland City Council on its DCO for an International Advanced Manufacturing Plant adjacent to the existing Nissan Factory; advising both the Universities of Lincoln and Sussex on campus expansion plans; and United Utilities in relation to a CPO for improvements related to its wastewater treatment plant at Eccles, Salford. Emma is also currently advising TfL in relation to a reference to the Upper Chamber (Lands Tribunal) for a compulsory purchase compensation claim in respect of Crossrail II.

Emma’s experience includes:

  • International Advanced Manufacturing Park - advising Sunderland and South Tyneside joint Council’s on the EIA requirements in relation to a Development Consent Order process for the International Advanced Manufacturing Park (IAMP) and development of a dedicated Action Area Plan for Green Belt release for the development of up to a 100ha advanced manufacturing park and associated infrastructure and service development to facilitate the expansion of the Nissan automotive cluster and supply chain and advanced manufacturing industries.
  • Advising a Avonmouth Industrial Estates (UK) Limited in respect of a largescale industrial and logistics estate in Severnside;
  • Advising SGL in relation to the intensification of its commercial logistics and storage capacity at Marchwood Port;
  • Advising a statutory undertaker in relation to an infrastructure resilience project spanning 60km+;
  • Advising numerous local authorities in relation to largescale mixed use regeneration projects in London;
  • Advising LLDC in relation to its masterplan development of Hackney Wick; and
  • Advising a number of University clients in respect of widescale campus redevelopment/expansions.
